Refining Representative Democracy

Using Business's money and influence more wisely:

In order to get the people more validly represented through a fairer election process, it may be the wisest to let the business sector have its own representative branch, though it may not have any real voting powers in the legislative sense.  The 'water-shed' of information that comes out of their representation process, and the money they wield in the ever so necessary economy, is influence enough, I'd dare say.  They may show us how to best generate a virtual 'voting' process that more clearly mirrors reality's actual behaviors.  I would suggest to start with though, that the have the representation 'weigh in' under at least two factors: a business 'head count', and by the 'amount of money they generate' in the economy.  How they work up the best way to get the business to input their views; and in the reverse direction, how the businesses become informed on some legislation's effects; may the what we as a people may be able to copy to some reasonable degree for ourselves.  As for the election process for thier representatives, they can figure out their own details as to rules for what is allowed in the funding process; though common legislaton may put a rough framework on the process, so that small business (which is actually the most productive part of our economy) is not left out in the cold somehow.

Funding the normal election of The Peoples' Representatives:

I tend to lean to a system that does not allow any business funding, only that by the people and limited to a reasonable amount that most can afford.  If this is not enough to allow a viable conversation to occur with the public; then the INTERNET, broadcasting and phone entities can be harnessed to the task.  Any amount it costs them comes straight off their tax bills.

The Federal Senate used to be elected by the State government directly; as they were considered to be the representative for the State.  This process was changed by a Constitutional amendment, so that now they are voted in directly by the people's vote.  None the less, I would suggest that it be encouraged that they generate their positions by, and voice their views from, their primary responsibility as a representative for the State's system of governance.  The State has many responsibilities to the people to carry out.  So having a harmonious, as possible, transitions to changes is not only more financially sound, it is more effective in generating the desired results.  If the representatives seem to hold a different position on a matter; then perhaps they should both be required to address why they are divergent, so the people can be better informed on the matters that are generating the 'rub'.

As far as I'm concerned, our representatives should be closely following the publics wishes.  If the people seem uninformed, then it is the job of the representative to generate any clarifications needed to bring them in harmony with the realities involved.  Presently, my understanding is that the only way the people can enforce this behavior is to have a RECALL election.  Perhaps the Business Branch of Representation will be able to show us the future of a more validly functioning system of representation.  In any case, ideally the PC will become the people best Political Cleaner.
